OUR Story

Coastal Core was founded out of a deep passion for the Lagree Method and a desire to bring this transformative workout to Nova Scotia. After experiencing firsthand how Lagree strengthens both body and mind, our founder was motivated to bring this effective and challenging style of training to the North End of Halifax. 

More than just another workout, Coastal Core introduces a new way of moving. Our goal is to share the benefits of Lagree with locals who want results, crave variety, and are ready to support something fresh in their own backyard.

We are dedicated to delivering the innovative Lagree Method to Halifax’s growing and active community. By blending challenge with connection, we aim to create a space where people come together, support one another, and build lasting East Coast strength through movement.

Lagree is a full-body training system that burns 300–700 calories per session while targeting strength, stamina, and stability.

You’ll work your core in every move and push to your edge, with expert instructors guiding you the entire way.

The SCIENCE BEHIND THE METHOD

Lagree is a low-impact, high-intensity workout based on time-under-tension science. Every move is done slowly to remove momentum and keep your muscles under constant tension, activating fat-burning, slow-twitch muscle fibers. This not only sculpts stronger muscles but also increases your metabolic rate, meaning you burn more calories even after class.

At the heart of Lagree is the patented Megaformer, a machine designed by founder Sebastien Lagree. This innovative equipment allows for endless modifications, making classes accessible for  all fitness levels while keeping workouts safe, challenging, and effective.

While Lagree is often compared to Pilates, it goes further by delivering a more intense, dynamic, and full-body experience that has earned its reputation worldwide as one of the most effective workouts available. Each class is led by a certified Lagree instructor, ensuring expert guidance and suitable modifications when needed, every step of the way.
